INDIAN CULTURE:Indian culture is known all over the world for its rich heritage and huge tradition. It's one of the world's oldest culture (about 5000 years old).Sure! But the same culture practices traditions like Child marriage, sati, jauhar, purdah and devadasi among some communities.Practices like Child marriage and purdah is still practiced in India.Women in many villages are still asked to abort or kill girl children .Traditional Hindu beliefs hold that girls should be brought up to be good daughters and later obedient wives. When a country has practices like sati and child marriage in the culture from years and years,I think it's going to be difficult to completely change the mindset of Indians towards women.
MEN ARE TAUGHT TO DOMINATE: I don't think it's entirely their fault.I think that's how they were brought up.Family and friends influence our thinking a lot.We are taught(most of us)that women should listen to men no matter what.If men are brought up in a good family environment with good values, there is less chance of him not respecting women and treating them as equals. In most of the countries, a wife or a girlfriend is treated as an equal,a partner. Why is the father always the head of the house? The mother also puts in equal effort in managing the family. But in India, mostly they are treated like men's possession or property. If men are taught to control and make decisions for every women in their lives(mother, sister, girlfriend, wife and friends), I don't think its completely their mistake.
WOMEN ARE OKAY WITH BEING DOMINATED: There's something in which i really believe in."You can only be controlled by someone when you let them control you."Unless,of course, you don't have a choice. But somehow, there's always a choice. One thing i have noticed is women in our country know that they are and will always be controlled by men and they are okay with it! I don't know how they do this and I don't see why they put up with this! Why don't we fight back? How can we be okay with someone else controlling our lives, making life decisions for us?If you're going through a similar problem, deal with it.Unless you do something about it,nothing's going to change. No one will save you unless you make attempts to save yourself.
"Respect the girls and women in your home, there is nothing bigger than that. I want every young man to remember that you will be blessed only if you respect your parents, care for them and look upon girls in your family and outside with respect."
